Save St. Mary's Church

For nearly one hundred and fifty years, the silhouette of St. Mary's Church has been a distinctive landmark on Dubuque’s skyline. While the surrounding area has been altered over time, the 252-foot steeple of St. Mary’s has remained a steadfast symbol of tradition and of hope, pointing skyward as if conveying the noble aspirations of generations of Dubuque inhabitants. Thanks to the integrity and beauty of its architecture, St. Mary's has earned a prominent place among the other prestigious historic buildings within the Dubuque area. It is, however, the human stories etched into the bricks of St. Mary's which have made it imperative that this monument of hopes and dreams be preserved.  Your assistance is greatly needed and requested in this effort. Therefore, an on-line petition has been established on this site for you to review, sign and share with others. Thank you so much for your support and prayers in this endeavor.

DRUM CORPS
Windows of St. Mary Dubuque was once awash in cash—lots and lots of cash. From its early days as a center for lead mining through the remainder of the 19th century, Dubuque’s capitalists struck it rich and poured money into extravagant buildings to prove their worth. Fortunately for us, many of those buildings are still around, including St. Mary that would be treasures in a city much larger than modest Dubuque.
DRUM CORPS SAINT MARY'S FIFE AND DRUM CORPS. Musical/religious organization. Established in 1907, the group's first official appearance was during the visit of the apostolic delegate to the United States.
